Beatrice Jackson Obituary

Beatrice Jackson's earthly life began on May 9, 1936 in Buena Vista, Georgia as the third child of four children, born to Ralph and Alma Pearson.

At the tender age of six, her parents relocated to Michigan City, Indiana where her adult life began to flourish. Upon graduating from Elston Senior High School in 1954, she occupied numerous positions, but most notably spent a number of years employed at Polerum (Michigan City Paper Box Company), Michigan City Plastics for over 25 years, Gap Stores for 10 years. Her strong work ethic led her back to the workforce at the age of 79 as a bus monitor with the Michigan City Area Schools, where she continued working until succumbing to her illness.

Beatrice Jackson affectionately known as “Mommy” proclaimed “I will serve the Lord at all times”.  Mommy loved the Lord, serving Him in worship and prayer at her beloved church, Bethel AME, where she served as an usher for a good part of her life. Her faith continued in her service as a member of the Alice B. Henson Women Missionary Society becoming a Torchligter after serving more than 25 years of service.

Activities she enjoyed were dancing, being a history buff of the Michigan City area, she loved telling stories of growing up in Michigan City and her travels with her friend Lillian during their teenage years. She also bowled with the Michigan City Bowling League. Holidays and special occasions made Mommy widely known and sought after for the delectable dishes of spaghetti, chili, fried chicken wings, salisbury steak, dressing and banana pudding. Mommy loved life bringing laughter and joy in all settings with her funny remarks making life a little lighter.
