Barry Lynn Collins, 63, of Michigan City Indiana passed away on October 14, 2023 after suffering from a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 8, 1959 in Winona, Mississippi to the late Mary Etta Collins.
Barry was loved by his entire family and was known throughout Michigan City. At an early age Barry was baptized at Bethany Bible Baptist church where he was an Usher and Gatekeeper. Later he would become a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and his final church home was The New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jacarra Williams. Barry would not miss going down to shake Pastor Jacarra's hand any Sunday when he was in attendance. Barry loved God, he enjoyed singing in the Men's choir and he often watched various church services on YouTube.
Barry was born with Down Syndrome but did not allow that to deter him from living a wonderful life. The favor of God rested upon Barry's life because he was surrounded by loving and caring family members.
Barry attended the Therapy Center when he was younger and Garfield School for the Disabled. Barry also worked at Michiana Industries for a number of years.
Barry's favorite pastimes things to do was watching BET, writing, singing, dancing, praying, eating soul food and being in the midst of loved ones.
Barry leaves to cherish his fond memories a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A MEMORIAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2023 11AM, AT NEW HOPE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH 730 W. 6TH ST. MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA 46360, WITH PASTOR JACARRA WILLIAMS TO DO EULOGY.
