Barry Arnold I Obituary

Barry Nathaniel Arnold I was born on December 20, 1965 to Carrie E. Anderson and Charles L.  Arnold in Michigan City, Indiana.

He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he sung in the Choir and was in the Layman’s Ministry.

Barry attended Elston High School where he played all four sports; baseball, basketball, football, and track a true Red Devil till the end. He was an umpire for the BPA. Barry enjoyed playing spades, and bid whist, while talking smack. He loved to sing “As you all know” and loved MUSIC.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandkids. He enjoyed cooking, a chef by trade. On June 23, 2001 he married the love of his life Julia M. Arnold.

He was an overall knowledgeable individual. He had an infectious smile, and a heart made of gold. He was one of the kindest men you ever met. Being the oldest of Carrie’s children he was the glue that held them all together. He developed a sense of responsibility for his sister Charlene and his brothers Cary, Jeffery, and Mario he forged a timeless and unbreakable bond with them. Barry was the silent stern sibling that kept it all together.

Barry departed this life on February 11, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie E. Anderson and Charles L. Arnold  one brother, David “Puncho” Smiths Sr. special cousins Rickey Styles, San Antonio Butler and Marcus Miller a very special aunt “Kathryn Styles “.

Home-Going Services will be 11am, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 123 Helen Street, Michigan City, IN with Pastor Jacarra Williams to give the eulogy. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be 4pm to 7pm, Friday, February 21, 2020 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church 730 West 6th Street, Michigan City, IN.

He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to his  loving wife Julia M. Arnold of  Michigan City, Indiana; his daughter Dominique Taylor, Porter, Indiana; his son Barry N. Arnold II Michigan City, Indiana; three brothers, Cary (KK) Arnold, Jeffery (Brenda) Ellis, Mario Ellis all from Michigan City, Indiana; three sisters, Doris (Vernon) Metcalf Michigan City, Indiana; Irma Mason of Little Elm, Texas; and Charlene (Clifton) Spicer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four grandchildren who adored him Eric “Champ” Garner, Marcus Lloyd, Mason Lloyd, and Ava K. Arnold and soon to be new addition Riley “Daisy” Seay, special daughter Annette Lloyd, mother-in-law Claudie Walton all of Michigan City, Indiana; Brother -in-law Winston Pugh of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister-in-law Rachel Pugh of Chicago, Illinois; Special cousins Jerry ”Chris” (Norma “Pandy”) Anderson of Michigan City, Indiana; Debra Styles of Cincinnati, Ohio;  and Lisa Styles, Patricia James of Lawrenceville, Georgia; three best friends; L.P. Steward, and John Harkins both of Michigan City, Indiana; and Curtis Jackson Sr. of Nashville, Tennessee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

Barry was loved by all and will truly be missed
