Audrey Myricks Obituary

Her STORY...

On October 29, 1952 a Queen was born, Audrey M. Myricks to Isaiah Barron and Tecora Gaston-Barron in Gary, Indiana.

Audrey accepted Christ at an early age. She moved to Michigan City in 1968. She graduated from Elston Isaac High School. Audrey worked various jobs and even worked for the Indiana State Prison. Audrey furthered her education and received her cosmetologist license and was co-owner of Touch of Class Beauty Salon. She then worked as a paraprofessional at Michigan City Area Schools. While being co-owner of Glam-o-Rama Boutique she started working for what would be her last job that she dearly loved out of all her jobs as a Church Administrator Clerk at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Eddie L. Jenkins. Audrey loved her New Hope Church family like her own. She was definitely a Queen of all trades. She was the president of The Nurses Auxiliary for 20 years. Audrey was also a lifetime member of the New St. Rose Chapter #40 Order of the Eastern Star and was inducted in October 1992. In her downtime she loved to bowl, attend sporting events, cooking, playing cards, and her greatest love was attending Church at New Hope and spending time with her grandchildren.

Audrey M. Myricks was promoted from Earth to Glory on April 15, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was welcomed home by both of her parents: Isaiah and Tecora Gaston, one daughter: Debra Anderson, her maternal and paternal grandparents: mother-in-law: Anezia Fargo, one grandson: Noah Jones III, one godson: Willie Hollingsworth, special friend: Herbert Young Jr.,

She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories her children whom she adores: Antonne Barron, Tecora Robinson, Andrea Anderson, all of Michigan City, Indiana; special god-children: Ricky Hart, Ricky Moore, Nina Glover, and Lee Glover, brother in laws: Jesse Anderson, Harvey Joe Anderson, and Charles Anderson, 15 grandchildren: Antonnette Barron, Crystal Hopson-Barron, Jeremy Hopson, Andre (Desire) Biggers, Na’kia (Ryan) Jones-Clark, Allen Biggers, Cecliy Anderson, Shayne Barron, Shayla Barron, Aaliyah Barron, Kasey Barron, Amber Anderson, Chelise Gillam, Teya Anderson, 12 great-grandchildren, special cousins: Vera Foster, Claudia Lockridge, and Ray Gaston, special friends: Kathy Walker, Carolyn Hope, Marian Nicks, Barbara Fleming and Anita Fly, along with a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends and her New Hope Church family.

A Celebration of life will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 11am, with Pastor Ron Gaston to do Eulogy. Viewing will be 10am until time of service at the Church. Interment will be private.

Audrey’s love, laughter, smile, and presence will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
