Arlene “Dru” Hood was born on February 8,1932 in Michigan City, Indiana to Jerry Turner and Annabelle Goodwin Turner.
“Dru as she was affectionately called attended Michigan City Area Schools. She received Christ at an early age. She worked at Blocksom & Company and retired from Arnold Tate. Dru was a loving caregiver. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was an Honorary Mother of the Mother’s Board and Ushers Board. She enjoyed playing cards, going to yard sales, interior designing and most of all she loved spending time with family.
Arlene “Dru” Hood was promoted to glory to be with the Lord on June 29, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, 6 brothers: William, John, Jerry Jr., Eugene, David, and Wilbert, 6 sisters: Etta, Mildred, Julia Mae, Clara, Lois, and Jeanette.
Dru leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories her 6 children whom she adored: Constance Turner, Paula Edwards, Kathy (Leslie) Thomas, Lisa Harris, Jeffrey Harris, and Pamela Harris all of Michigan City, Indiana; Special friend/step-father: Clarence Hood, a special sister-in-law: Mattie Turner, 11grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren, 1 god-daughter: Taylor Tillman, her beloved friends: Gloria Martin, Maggie Garner, Jean Hewlett, and Bertha Peterson, her caregivers: Ladonna Kelly and Mary Hicks, and her entire Pleasant Hill Church Family all of Michigan City, Indiana, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Ms. Dru’s presence, smile, love and laughter will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 12 noon at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing will be at 11am until time of service at the Church, with Pastor James Lane Jr., to do Eulogy. Entombment will be Monday, July 11, 2022 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens at 11am.
