Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Angelo Loroy Corley Sr.

Angelo Loroy Corley Sr. was born on September 27, 1953 in Bogalusa Louisiana to AJ Corley and Bobbie J. May-Corley. He followed his wife home to Our Heavenly Father on Monday September 25, 2023. Two days before his 70th birthday.

Angelo accepted Christ at an early age. He was a Trustee at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ernest Jones. When Rev. Jones retired Angelo moved his membership to Christ Temple Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Joe L. Bennett.

Angelo attended Central Elementary School. He then attended Elston High School. Soon after High School Angelo enlisted into the United States Marine Corps as a marksman. He received an Honorable Discharge after serving 4yrs. Shortly after serving in the United States Marine Corps Angelo married his incredible wife Phyllis Jean Brown on July 4, 1983. They became a beautiful family and went on to share 40 years of love and happiness together.

Angelo worked at Joe Sams at a young age. He worked for various trucking companies such as: Wanatah Trucking, Tri -State bus company, Browns company and Michigan City Transit. After which he started at Michigan City Street Department where he became not only a co-worker but a father figure and role model to many for 16years.

Angelo loved traveling with his wife, children, grands, and great-grandchildren. He loved fishing with his special brother-in-laws, Cranston Harris, and Albert Perry. He enjoyed having long conversations in the driveway with his friend T.C. Falls. Angelo also enjoyed poker night with the guys even though he didn’t drink or play poker.

Angelo was proceeded in death by his adoring wife: Phyllis Jean Corley, both his loving fathers: whom he loved dearly A.J. Corley and Joe W. Lindsey, maternal grandparents: Sophronia Walker May and Horace May, paternal grandparents: Annie Mae Corley and Versie Corley and his brother Joe Jr. Jones.

Angelo leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his unforgettable memories, his mother: Minister Dr. Bobbie J. Lindsey, his children: Erika Cox, Mitchell (Marylin) Tatum, Amber (Shana)Tatum, Marcus Lewis, Angelo (Rasheedah) Corley Jr., and honorary child/1st granddaughter Jalyssa Whetstone; 8 siblings: Tiffany Griffin, Latrecia (Pastor James E.) Lane, Jr., Mary L. Dye, Yolanda (Rahim) Griffin-Lee, Lorraine Yancey-Williams, Henry Griffin Jr., Larry Pope, and Henry Lindsey; special sister-in-laws: Sharon Perry, and Linda F. Jones; special son in law: Jeremy Moorman; 20 grandchildren: 8 great- grandchildren, Special Cousin: Louise Mock, God sisters: Rochelle Allison, Tina Rice, Janice Shell, Tiffany Pearson, God brother: Clarence Stone Jr. along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Church family, Co-workers, and dear friends that will forever adore him.

Angelo was a loving and devoted husband, son, father, and grandfather. He also was a father figure to more than just his family. Angelo’s presence, love, laughter, and smile will forever be missed by all that knew him.

A public visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 203 at Coleman & Hicks Chapel 101 S. Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 from 4pm-7pm at the Funeral Home. 

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11am at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church 123 Helen St. Michigan City, Indiana 46360 (formerly known as Mt.Zion). Visitation will be 10am until time of service at the Church. 
 

Burial will follow immediately after services at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive family and friends following the service at Krueger Memorial Park Hall located 801 Liberty Trail Michigan City, Indiana.
