Alfreda Harvell

April 21, 1959 ~ April 29, 2020 (age 61)


Alfreda Harvell was born on April 21, 1959 to the Reverend Allen Harvell and the late Ella Green Byrd, in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

“Freda” as everyone affectionately called her, was a giving soul. She always spoke her mind and would tell you exactly what she thought. 

She played basketball for Rogers High School, and she was also a cheerleader.

Freda lived a good portion of her life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While in Milwaukee, she enjoyed working as a security guard.

Freda wore many hats such as; ma, granny, sister, TT, cuz and friend. We all know, she loved her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing cards, board games, reading and watching her favorite shows.

Freda truly loved and took care of her “granny-babies” Marvion and Travion. They loved and adored her; and always helped her whenever she needed them.

Alfreda Harvell departed her life on April 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by her oldest son Marvin Harvell and her mother, Ella Green Byrd. 

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to her sons, Melvin (Kimberly) Harvell, Michigan City, IN, and Matthew Harvell, Elkhart, IN; her “granny-babies” Marvion and Travion of Michigan City; four sisters, Arlena (Elder Larry) Higgins, Michigan City, IN; Jacqueline Harvell, Louisville, Kentucky; Michelle Harvell and Patches Culpepper, Michigan City, IN; four brothers, Harry Harvell, Benton Harbor, MI; Kevin Harvell, Michigan City, IN; Apostle Tyrone Bolden, Meridian, MS; and Donald P. Culpepper, Las Vegas, NV.  Six handsome nephews Dennis Gooch ll, Derrick (Judy) Gooch, Mikkel Harvell, Daniel Higgins, Donald Culpepper ll, and Tyler Bolden. Five beautiful nieces Jherika Harvell, Lauren Kyle-Graham, Lacresha Roberts, Deja Higgins, and Elaina Weaver and a host of special cousins and close friends.  

Alfreda was loved by all and will truly be missed.

Funeral Services are for the immediate family. Viewing will be Friday, May 8, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pmat Coleman&Hicks Chapel.
