Willie Waddell

Willie Waddell Jr., 85, Michigan City as he affectionately called himself “Sweet Willie” departed this life on March 4, 2018 at the Aperion Arbors of Michigan City.

Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, March 10, 2018 at New Covenant Outreach Ministries 419 Grant Avenue, Michigan City with Pastor William Eckwood to officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Coleman & Hicks Chapel.

“Sweet Willie” was born April 11, 1932 in Lexington, MS to the late Willie Waddell Sr., and Annie Lou Randall-Waddell. On February 23, 1985 in Flint, MI he married his companion, Barbara Jean Bryson.

He retired from Grand Blanc Auto/General Motors. He enjoyed bingo, fishing, playing cards and most of all his family.

“Sweet Willie” leaves to mourn his memory, his wife that he was happily married to for 33 years, Barbara Jean Waddell, Michigan City; children Tawanda Britton, Malvina (Clay) Wilson, Shon Britton all of Michigan City, Tracy “Boy” Henderson, California and  Ezra “Cat” Britton, Michigan City; five sisters, Mary Patterson and Anna Flowers both of New York, Lucinda (Walter) Quick,  Gloria McGee and Susie Randall; two brothers, Norman Waddell, Chicago and  John Waddell, New York; two sisters-in-laws, Ruth Worlds, Michigan City and Vivian Worlds, Flint, MI; two special friends, Ben Jones and "Grandpa in the Alley"; sixteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,  cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Queenester Van Ellis and Martha Waddell; two brothers, Nathan Waddell and Booker T. Waddell; and three grandchildren, Vincent Rasco, Etoya Britton and Dominic Britton.
