Robert Lee Jackson Sr., 79, of Michigan City, affectionately known as “Top Cat,” departed this life on March 8, 2019, at Franciscan Alliance Hospital.
Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Life Temple Church of God in Christ 3709 U.S. 20, Michigan City. Pastor Robert Fleming will be officiating, burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019, at life Temple Church of God in Christ.
Robert was born June 18, 1939, in Ponce De Leon, Florida, to the late Willie Jackson Sr. and Maudie (Dubois) Jackson.
Robert grew up and attended school in Ponce De Leon and Chipley, Florida. Robert fell in love with Pari Lee Davis and they became childhood sweethearts. On July 18, 1959 they were joined in Holy Matrimony in Chipley, Florida. They decided to move to Michigan City, Indiana, May of 1961. They were blessed with four wonderful children, Karen, Robert Jr., Curtis and Datra.
Deacon Jackson owned and operated the Jackson Car Wash and Detail for 18 years. He also worked at Weil McClain.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a faithful member of Life Temple Church of God in Christ. He was a faithful member to the Deacon’s Board where he served as the Head Deacon. Top Cat enjoyed Golfing, Fishing and Soft Ball.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, four children, Karen Jackson and Robert Lee Jackson Jr., both of Michigan City, Curtis (Mia) Jackson of Nashville, Tennessee, and Datra (Alonzo) Flowers of Michigan City; three sisters, Ernestine Tanner of Michigan City, and Frances Jackson and Margaret Brown, both of Chipley, Florida; four brothers, Leonard Jackson, Melvin (Barbara) Jackson and Alvin Jackson, all of Chipley, Florida, and Donald (Marilyn) Jackson of Ocala, Florida; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three special friends, Pastor Robert Fleming, Minister Wesley Scully and Mr. Vincent Carter; and a host of relatives and friends.
Deacon Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Pari Jackson on November 4, 2012; one sister, Vida Pearl Brown and one brother, Willie Jackson Jr.
