Patricia Anne Dawson went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2017 which was Thanksgiving Day.
Funeral services will be 12pm, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church 629 East Michigan Blvd, Michigan City with Pastor Charlene Moore to officiate, burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be 11am, Saturday at the church until the time of service.
Patricia was born on November 18, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Matel Dawson, Jr. and Clara Culpepper. Patricia, affectionately called “Pat”, was a longtime resident of Michigan City, Indiana.
Patricia was raised by her grandparents, Mitchell and Caroline Culpepper. She lived in various places due to her grandfather’s calling as a Pastor which required him to travel in order to fulfill his dedication to the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Patricia gave her life to the Lord at a very young age. She was a lifelong member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Michigan City, Indiana under the leadership of Reverend Charlene E. Moore.
She diligently worked 38 years for Dwyer Instruments Inc., Michigan City, Indiana, from which she retired.
Patricia leaves to cherish her memories her son, Mark (Allison) Dawson, Atlanta, GA; her daughter Shereen (fiancé Tony) Hughes, Augusta GA; her life time friend Edward Hervey, Michigan City, IN; her four grandchildren Naomi Hughes, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO; Anthony Hughes, Augusta, GA; Sydney Dawson, Atlanta, GA; and Chandler Dawson Atlanta, GA; one sister Michelle McGee, Minneapolis, MN; eldest uncle Earl B. Culpepper, Baltimore, MD; eldest aunt Thelma Imogene Allen, Charlotte, NC; and a host of relatives, friends, church members, neighbors, and former co-workers.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Culpepper McGee, her father Matel Dawson Jr, her grandparents, Mitchell and Caroline Culpepper, and her brother, David McGee.
