Mother Annie Jean Milsap, 81, Michigan City, made her heavenly transition on October 18, 2018 at the University hospital of Chicago.
Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Stanley Mason. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Viewing will be 10am Saturday at the church until the time of service.
Mother Milsap was born October 17, 1937 in Canton, MS to the late, Owen Peterson, Sr. and Louise Wilson.
Mother Milsap was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board. She loved to dress, shopping, cooking and her all-time favorite television show was General Hospital.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, five children, Willie B. Milsap, Gladys J. Milsap-Denwood, Clarence Milsap Sr. and Alphus (Adrian) Woodard all of Michigan City and Tina Woodard-Johnson of Fishers, IN; brothers, Melvin (Michele) Peterson, Frederick Peterson, Gordon Peterson, Paul (Ann) Peterson, Jules (Leona) Peterson; sisters, Johnnie Peterson, Marcella Peterson-Luckett, Yvonne Peterson, Eloise Peterson and Paulette Peterson-Marshall; long-time companion, Alphus Woodard Sr., of Michigan City; special friends, Vera Reid, Maebell Elliott, Arlene Hood and Bertha Dail; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and her church family.
Mother Milsap was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie Peterson, Owen Peterson Jr., Percy Peterson, and Michael Peterson, sisters, Catherine Peterson-Powe, Truman "Trudy" Peterson-Mitchell, Marilyn Peterson-Phillips, and Payola Peterson-King, children, Wyatt Milsap, Charles Woodard, and Shirley Ann Woodard.
She will be Greatly missed by all that knew her.
