Krystyna J. (Hurt) Sims

Krystyna Hurt-Sims, 41, of Michigan City, Indiana departed this life on December 12, 2018 at Franciscan St. Anthony’s Health Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dewayne Hurt, officiating. Viewing will be 11 a.m. at the church until time of service. A wake will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Krystyna affectionately known as “Krissy” was born on May 14, 1977 to Steve W. Hurt Sr. and Janet Hurt-Thomas in Michigan City, Indiana.

Krystyna accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined New Covenant Outreach Church. She graduated on June 7, 1995 and she furthered her education at Loyola College. She was a Teacher’s Aide at Michigan City Area Schools she also worked for the After School Programs. Krissy was a sport activist, avid basketball fan, loved cheerleading, soccer, football and enjoyed following her sons sports activities. She also enjoyed cooking, and listening to music, but her greatest fulfillment was spending time with her children and family.

She leaves to cherish her fondest memories, her mother, Janet (Vincent) Thomas and father, Steve (Callie) Hurt Sr. all of Michigan City, Indiana; life partner of 17 years Anthony Harmon of Michigan City, Indiana; her adoring children, Aramis Sims, Tre Bisher, Meriko Harmon, Amaya Harmon and Jazmin Harmon-Whitlow all of Michigan City, Indiana; siblings, Steve Hurt Jr., of Laporte, Indiana; Brandon Hurt of Lancanster, Texas; Keith Hurt of Phoenix, Arizona; Brian Cooper and Yvonne Cooper both of Michigan City, Indiana; Traciee Thomas, Letha Buchanan, Dana Johnson, Tasheema Thomas all of Portland, Oregon; Latasha Thomas of Gary, Indiana; and Tony (Patrenia) Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Krystyna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Catherine Dekine, Mack Charles Varrie, Theola Hurt, John Hurt; sister, Racheon Hurt, brother, Vincent Thomas Jr.

Krissy will be truly missed by all that knew her.
