Attorney Kim was born March 25, 1980 in Jackson, Mississippi.

She was a graduate of the Michigan City High School Class of 1998. Kim was inspired to practice law by the late Susan Hemminger, the first female judge in LaPorte County and founder of the LaPorte County Teen Court Program. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, with a Concentration in Criminology, from Valparaiso University in 2002. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2010. On October 29, 2013 Kim was the first African American Woman to serve as a judge pro tempore in LaPorte Superior Court 4. She had a passion to practice Law.

Kim attended Christ Universal Temple Church in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and mentoring because education was important to her. In elementary school, she received the President’s Award. At the age of 12, she had the opportunity to be an exchange student and travelled to Mexico. She also studied in Japan and London, England. In 2000 Kim travelled to China. She loved her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews.
