Joanne Roberts, 53, made her transition to paradise on April 2, 2017.

Joanne was born on Oct. 28, 1963, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Mr. Willie Brown and Bonnie Jo Givens.

She worked at the Swanson Center. Joanne loved to cook, bake and sing. She was a member of Advancing Christ Kingdom Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Dierre Glenn.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories: two daughters, Ebony J. Roberts and Sylvia R. Roberts, both of Michigan City, Indiana; father, Willie Brown, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; adopted father, Michael (Vanessa) Benton, Union Pier, Michigan; three sisters, Hannah Brown, and Ethel Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Danica Walls of Des Moines, Iowa; one step-sister, Vanette Smothers of Union Pier, Michigan; two special sisters, Johnnie Welch and Cheryle Timberlake, both of Michigan City, Indiana; brothers, Pastor Rodney (Lyzell) Spencer, Michigan City, Indiana; Joe Givens, St. Peters, Minnesota; Charles Brown, and George Brown both of Phoenix, Arizona; Trace Brown, Willie Brown Jr., Dewayne Brown, Jeremy Brown all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three step-brothers, Rontae Smothers, Union Pier, Michigan; Tremaine Carter, Hutchinson, Minnesota; and Therron Carter, of St. Paul, Minnesota; special friends, Henry Pettigrew, Cheryl (Kurt) Webster, Amanda (Loren) Birdsong, Gerry (John) Jones, Alisa (Anthony) Simmons, all of Michigan City, Indiana; a special niece Vera Morman of Michigan City, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her Advancing Christ Kingdom Ministries Church Family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dantrelle Campbell and mother, Bonnie Jo Givens.
