Jimmie “Jim Jam”  58, of New Buffalo, Michigan was called home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2019 at Franciscan St. Anthony’s Health Center in Michigan City, Indiana, surrounded by his family.

Jimmie Grant Jr. was born June 26, 1961 to Jimmie Grant Sr. and Dorothy Wagner. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He was a deacon and served as a member of the Sons of Thunder male chorus at Deliverance & Victory Five Fold Worship Center in Michigan City, Indiana.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Service's will be at 12 noon, with Apostle Vera Roberts to give Eulogy. Viewing will be 11am at the Church until time of service. Internment will be Monday, December 9, 2019 at 12:30 p.m., in Elwood, Illinois at Abraham Lincoln National Military Cemetery.

Jimmie loved to cook, sing, dance, listen to good music, draw cartoon characters, throw bean bags, play bid whist, spades, uno, billiards, skate and golf. He loved collecting Marvel Action Figures, Star Wars Action Figures, and was truly a Bat Man fan. He loved gatherings with his family and friends and having a good time. He was good at every game, very competitive and once he knew he was about to win, he would shout SKADOOSH!!! That became a famous word in our family and we will continue to keep it alive and in our hearts when we gather to love on each other. Jimmie also loved animals and he recently adopted a dog that he loved so much and named her “Whiskey Rose.”

 Jimmie Grant Jr. served in the Air Force branch of the military and he was very proud to be a United States Airman. He was a member of the Indiana Black Expo. He was a Master Hair Stylist and featured in a magazine while he was employed at Roberts Salon and Spa in Indianapolis. He always kept the latest gadgets and had everything to fix anything. In the 4th grade his mother was told by his teacher that he was a genius. Jimmie was recently employed by Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan as a professional card dealer. He also continued his career as a Master Hair Stylist at New Buffalo INN and Spa with the love of his life Lisa Werner. 

He was preceded in death by his Maternal grandparents, Warren L. George Sr., and Ruth George, Paternal grandparents, Renett Wright and Isiah Simmons, four uncles, Warren George Jr., Adolphus George, Almon James George and Lamar George, One Aunt, Francine Ryan.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories, his parents Jimmie Grant Sr., and Pastor Dorothy (Joseph) Wagner all of Michigan City, Indiana; three brothers, Joseph (Deon) Wagner of Rockford Il; Derrick (Rachel) Grant of Seattle, Washington; Johnnie Grant of Michigan City, Indiana; three sisters, Apostle Vera (Darrell)Roberts of Michigan City, Indiana; his baby sis Johnnetta Grant Rhodes of St. Louis, Missouri; and other baby sis Latisha Wagner of Michigan City, Indiana; Maternal Aunts, Legusta (Jim) McDonald, Sarah Adams, Patricia (Ellis) Walker, Casaundra (Ed) Walker, Maternal uncle, Calvin George, Paternal Aunts, Lizzie McCray, Shirley Winding, Gloria Simmons,Paternal Uncles, Willie Simmons, Dan Simmons, Earnest Simmons, Raymond Simmons, a special companion, Lisa Werner of New Buffalo, Michigan; his loving puppy “Whiskey Rose” along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 Jimmie will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
