Darryl Carey

Darryl affectionately called "ChiTown" was the fourth child of nine siblings born to the late Lott Carey and Roxie Carey on October 14, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois.

Darryl attended Oakenwald Elementary School and he graduated from Parker Roberson High School. Darryl accepted Christ at an early age in his life. He was the proud pops to his oldest daughter Tiffany. Darryl later met and married the love of his life Darlene, he reared her son Lamar who became his son and to their union a precious baby girl was born, naming her Darnisha, after both parents names, (Dar) for Darryl and Darlene "LOL". He loved sports, he love having barbeques and cookouts for his family and friends. Darryl was the life of the party, there wasn't any going to sleep on his watch. His favorite pop singer in the world was the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, he love all of his music but his favorites were, "I'm Looking at the Man in the Mirror" and "You're Not Alone".

Darryl made his transition from life on earth into eternity on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He is now reunited with his main man, Reggie Jackson; his dad; big sister, Adrienne and nephew, Seneca.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife of twenty-one years, Darlene; his three children, Tiffany, Lamar and Darnisha; his loving mother, Mrs. Roxie Carey; four grandchildren, Issac, Bryson, Lamariyon and Lariyah; two sisters, Rev. Charmaine (Deacon Lawrence) Schine and Wanda (Deacon Ralph) Gore; five brothers, Duane (Bobbi), Aaron (Tamika), Craig (LaSaundra) Barry (Cynthia) and Brian (Gloria) Carey; one sister-in-law, Shirley Carey; two aunts, Burnadette and Sharon; one special niece, Chaunte Dixion; two best friends, Harold Kennedy and Al Strong and a host of relatives.

Darryl will be missed by his family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am Friday, January 11, 2019 at Coleman&Hicks Chapel with Rev. Charmaine Schine to officiate, Viewing will be 10:00am Friday at the chapel until the time of service.
