Brian Cortez Turner Jr. affectionately known as “BJ” was born June 30, 1995 to Erica Johnson and Brain Turner Sr.

BJ was a loving father. He enjoyed cutting hair since the age of 11. He also loved his family,  listening to music and playing video games. He recently was employed at Steak-N-Shake.

Brian Cortez Turner Jr. departed this life on November 12, 2017. He is preceded in death by one brother, Xavier Johnson; cousin, Jarvis Johnson, great grandparents Maggie Fields and James Johnson; adoptive great grandparents, Ulysses Johnson and Rosie Scott; Great grandmother, Rosell Curry, step grandmother, Elmira Patterson; Aunt Betty Fields and Uncle David Johnson.

 He leaves to cherish his fond memories mother, Erica Johnson of Michigan City, Indiana; father, Brian Turner Sr., of Indianapolis, Indiana; two children, Cortez and Cyncere Turner both of Michigan City, Indiana; maternal grandparents, Joyce Johnson of Michigan City, Indiana and Eric Patterson of Jackson, Mississippi; paternal grandmother, Faith Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana; maternal great grandfather, Robert Patterson, Sr., of Durant, Mississippi; sisters Miracle DeBerry, Monique Turner, Tanara Turner and Ty'Niqua Williams all of Michigan City, Indiana; brothers Dontarious Johnson, Silas Jones, Brock Jones, Bryce Jones and Benjamin Arnold Jr. all of  Michigan City, Indiana;  aunts Keiwana Johnson South Bend, Indiana, Karen (William) Gholston  of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sheryl Snowden of Las Vegas, NV,  Tashia (Zack) Turner-Bailey of Michigan City, Indiana and LaToya ( Arthur) Turner-Torrance of Indianapolis, Indiana; uncles Tierre Turner of South Bend, Indiana, Shaun Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana,  Eugene Turner of  Michigan City, Indiana, DeWayne Simmons of Michigan City, Indiana and Jerome ( Debbie ) Johnson of Michigan City, Indiana, Robert (Anitria) Patterson Jr., of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marvin (Cheryl) Kelley and Shawn Kelley both of Michigan City, Indiana; special uncle, Albert Edwards of California; special friends, Kiara Williamson, Mardaicious Wilson, Dominique Wilson, Jermaine Garrett, Jeremy Jordan all of Michigan City, Indiana, Rashad Owens of South Bend, Indiana and a host of relatives.

Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jacarra Williams to officiate. Viewing will be 11am Saturday at the church until the time of service.
