Perlina Johnson, A strong woman of God, was born March 6th, in West Helena, Arkansas. The sixth child of thirteen born to McKenzie, Sr. and Annie Rose Scaife.

Perlina was baptized in Christ at an early age and served the Lord through-out her life.

Perlina attended school in Caruthersville, Missouri as the family migrated north seeking better economic opportunities, she with the family moved to Michigan City, Indiana, where she attended Elston Sr. High where she graduated.

Perlina married George Hagen and to this union was three children were born one Daughter, Norma Jean and two sons, Daniel and Dr. Joseph Hagen. 

Perlina worked at the Kingsbury Plant and then later at Gateway Industrial for many years until she retired.

On September 8, 1962 Perlina married Viceal Johnson, they lived in harmony until 1980 when he passed away.

Perlina was a member of the Senior Choir and the Missionary board until her illness limited her. To family and friends she was considered a Prayer Warrior.  Perlina truly loved God and was eager to share His word with others.

Perlina was a hands on Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother to her children, nieces and nephews she was always there to lend a helping hand and fill in the gap whenever needed.  Truly she believed in it takes a village to raise a child.

Perlina leave to celebrate her life a Sister, Verneice Harris, Brother in Law, Eugene Bolzan, Daughter, Norma Jean Jackson, two sons, Daniel and Dr. Joseph Hagen(Pamela)and a host of Grandchildren and Great Grans, Nieces, Nephews and a host of Family and Friends.

Preceding her in death, Husband Viceal Johnson, Parents, McKenzie Sr. and Annie Rose Scaife and siblings:  Estella, Willie Lee, Donald, Nadine, Gerdine, Mattye, McKenzie, Lois, Choicia, Joe Louis and Berie.  

A memorial service will take place Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11am at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Stanley Mason, officiating.
