On March 27, 2018, Lois Seals departed the earthly tabernacle of her body and entered the presence of the Lord.
Home going services will be noon, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ 428 N. Woodland Ave., with Supt. Charles Dowdell to officiate. Entombment will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Greater Powerhouse Church.
Lois Seals was born on Nov. 7, 1949, in Stoddard County, Missouri, to the late Henry and Novellia (Johnson) Seals.
Lois attended public school in Michigan City. She was raised in Hatchett Temple, now Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ in Michigan City, Indiana. For over 50 years, Sister Seals was a faithful member of Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ. First and foremost, she was a great woman of God. Fiercely loyal to the ministry, she worked hard to support her pastor and the people of her local church. She had the gift of helps and was willing to serve in any capacity in the local, district and jurisdictional work. Sister Seals served as Bible Band teacher, soloist, choir member, Pastor’s aid, Deaconess and operated in many other roles as needed. She spent 45 years proclaiming and teaching the Word of God, comforting the broken and hurting and ministering to the needs of the sick and afflicted. Lois met and married Lonel Johnson of Michigan City and they later divorced.
Sister Seals worked many years as a cashier and bookkeeper for Jim and Al’s grocery of Michigan City, Indiana.
Sister Seals is survived by one sister, Rosie Lee Sherman of Jacksonville, Florida and two brothers, John (Gail) Seals of Balmer, Missouri and Clyde (Chom) Seals of Killeen, Texas; adopted siblings – Heidi (John) Crook, Georgia Perry, Brenda (Bobby) Allen, Rhonda (Paul) Sylvester and David (Royetta) Perry, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends; special friend, Anita Fly of Michigan City, Indiana .
She was preceded in death by her siblings, David Seals, James Seals, Cora Seals-Fair, Nancy Perry an Henry Seals Jr.; one brother-in-law, George Perry; and sister, Melody Baker.
