Lillian Lynell Mayfield was born on January 1, 1957 in Michigan City, In. She was a blessing to the union of the late Ellis Burks jr and Mildred Smith Harvey. Her family and close friends lovingly called her by her middle name Lynell.

Lillian Mayfield was a bright spirit that could shed laughter at any situation to see anyone smile. She had a heart of gold and did anything for her grandchildren. If anyone ever needed anything she was always there to lend a helping hand and her support.

Lynell was a woman of God. She was a proud member of Apostolic Church of God in Chicago,IL. She loved praising and listening to gospel music. She also loved going to church with the most fashionable outfits and hats. You could look through the crowd and know she was walking with a smile. Not only was she a god fearing woman but always a woman who wanted nothing but the best for her children. She was the backbone for her kids and always pushed them to be great. One of her greatest joys in life was the day her oldest daughter Dennisha completed her college degree.

Lynell gave birth to five amazing children. Demeco (Kimberly) McCoy jr of Michigan City, In, Dennisha Burks of Chicago, IL and fraternal twins Darrien and Desirae Burks who reside in California and Texas. Lynell fifth child a precious little girl named Angel who precedes her in her passing. Lynell’s deeply missed biological father, Ellis Burks, Jr., and her beloved step-father, Elbert Russell Hervey, preceded her in her passing. She leaves behind her mother, Mildred Smith Hervey, of Michigan City IN., her treasured first born son, DeMeco McCoy (Kimberly), two precious daughters; Dennisha Burks, of Chicago IL., and Desirae  Burks, of Texas and Darrien Ellis Burks, of California.

Lynell’s memory will be forever cherished by her eight siblings; two who preceded her in passing, Larry Daniel Burks (Shirley), of Texas., and Barbara Jean Burks, of Michigan City IN, Ellis Burks, III, (Diana), Doraville Georgia., Regina Burks Holloman, Indianapolis IN., Alisa (Anthony) Simmons, Michigan City, IN., Keith Burks (Kandi), Michigan City, IN., Kevin Burks (Robbin), South Bend, IN., and Antwan Lapre Burks, Orlando, FL.

Her presence will also be deeply missed by her five adored grandchildren; DeAndre Venters of Lafayette Indiana, DeMeco McCoy, III, Kalala McCoy, DeMarco McCoy, of Michigan City IN, and her youngest grandchild, Londyn Gales of Chicago IL. Also her precious dog Paris.
