Sandra Lynn Tarr, 60, Michigan City, departed this life on Oct 22, 2011 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Bethel AME Church, with Rev. Charlene Moore, Officiating. The viewing will start at 10:00 am at the church.
Sandra was born January 15, 1951 in Michigan City, Indiana to William A.D. Cotton and Lessie Mae Jernigan Cotton.
She graduated in 1968 from Elston Senior High School in Michigan City, Indiana. She then attended Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan for two years before starting her career at the Bethlehem Steel Mills. Sandra was a dedicated employee at Bethlehem and worked for over 35 years as a Payload Driver before she retired in January 2011.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Stacie Tarr and two adoring grandchildren, that affectionately called her "GeGe"; Cameron Tarr and Najma Abu-eid, all of Michigan City, Indiana; a devoted sister Sharon (Roger) Dunlap, of Savoy, Illinois; her companion of 14 years Cecil Hill of Michigan City, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Lessie Cotton, brother David Henry Cotton and sister Stephanie Jo Cotton.
